Welcome to Melbourne Parish Church

The death of our Queen has been and continues to be a great shock to so many of us throughout the nation and the wider commonwealth. Although we are in mourning, the Christian Faith held so deeply by Her Majesty, provides the comfort that we are promised eternal life – we are allowed to be a people of hope.

As well as being people of hope, we are also called to be thankful to God for the example and dedication to service of our Queen; selfless devotion to her duty of serving others, inspiring others, changing others.

Here in this ancient parish church with its own royal past, we are here to serve, too – to invite others to find comfort, peace and hope. We will remain open each and every day as per usual over the National Period of Mourning for prayer and reflection as well as the invitation to sign the Book of Condolence. You are also invited to lay a floral tribute if you wish or to light a candle in memory of our Queen.

We pray, too, for our Royal family and our new King, King Charles III who said so movingly in his first address to the nation:

“And to my darling Mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I want simply to say this: thank you. Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years. May “flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest”..

Rest in peace, Your Majesty and, in the words of Paddington Bear from the Platinum Jubilee – “Thank you, Ma’am, for everything.”

God save the King!
