Messy Church

First of all – what is it? Well, it’s a form of church for children and adults that involves play, creativity, celebration, food and hospitality. It rarely happens on a Sunday and it is very relaxed and easy going.

The first Messy Church took place in 2004 when people at St Wilfrid's, near Portsmouth, felt frustrated because they felt they were hardly reaching any children with God's story. They had lovely buildings and facilities but weren't making good enough use of them.

We felt the same in Melbourne and now offer great fun and followship for children, parents and carers outside traditional ‘church’ and at more convenient times for young families.

Newcomers are always warmly welcomed.
